Roofing systems generally fall into these two types - steep slope or low slope.
Steep-slope roof systems mainly consist of these 3 parts: Roof deck, underlayment and covering
Low slope roofing on the other hand are comprised of weatherproofing layer/s, reinforcement and surfacing.
Steep slope systems are typically comprised of of individual pieces or components installed like shingles. A low slope roofing system features weatherproof roof membranes that are installed on slopes that are less than or equal to 14 degrees
