How To Safely Work On Your Roof

If you have roof damage and need to make repairs, here are some safety reminders to help keep you safe.

When using your extension ladder, make sure you stay away from power lines and don't lean your ladder across doorways. Always face your ladder when climbing and make sure you keep 3 points of contact with it - 2 feet and your hand on stile.

When on your roof, wear a harness that's connected to a securely anchored rope. When looking for an anchor, tie the rope to a secure part of your house, or a tree. You can also invest in a safety harness and make sure it fits properly.

Don't work alone. It's always a good idea to have someone around to help you with the job so that they can be there to help steady your ladder and if any accidents happen, can call for help.
